On 10 April 2019 the InsurLab Germany Accelerator Selection Day 2019 took place in Cologne. During this day we gave 25 startups the opportunity to introduce themselves to our members on the premises of SCOR Reinsurance. After giving five startups the opportunity to participate in our program in 2018, this year 15 startups should make it into our six-month accelerator program. Because of the fact that the decisions were already difficult – since all the startups were convincing – 16 companies were finally admitted to our programme this year.
The InsurTech startups and the startups with a strong link to the insurance industry could apply in two categories: “Start” and “Growth”. With this in mind, ten companies in the “Start” category and 15 companies in the “Growth” category were invited to our Selection Day. Here, our member companies and a jury of experts were able to decide which startups would be finally admitted to the Accelerator.
This is what awaits our selected startups
Younger startups receive a cash bonus and are now comprehensively supported by us in the implementation of their first pilot projects. The more mature startups will benefit from our extensive network of potential customers to scale their business ideas. Startups in both categories receive individual mentors as well as several specialist mentors who are always available to advise on the further development of business models and the implementation of projects with their expertise. In addition, the 16 startups expect numerous workshops, pitch opportunities at events and workplaces on our InsurLab campus. Of course, all this is free of charge.
The category “Start”: Our breakthroughs
We are happy to start in the category “Start” with 6 young startups in the program. Docudiet is a startup from Cologne, which offers an AI-based assistant, which supports the evaluation of industrial insurance premiums. Tiegoo is a digital pet health card that gives pet owners round-the-clock access to all relevant health and vital data. Luminovo develops customized AI solutions and tools for business customers. The startup won the “EXECinsurtech Insurance Shaper of the Year” Award 2018 and thus a permanent place in the Accelerator Program 2019. Perasoft develops an actuarial AI for property insurance. Refit Systems offers a digital-supported rehabilitation system for the individual therapy of patients with movement disorders. Strokemark are developing a stroke recovery platform for patients and physicians.
The category “Growth”: Focus on scaling and project implementation
In the “Growth” category, we are working with ten startups. AIMO Technologies, based in Cologne, Stuttgart and Stockholm, offers a digitized and semi-automated health assessment through a 3D motion scan. BanksAPI enables end customers to access their accounts, credit cards and custody accounts via the licensees’ front-end. BetterDoc helps patients find the best specialists for their treatments and surgeries. Contract.fit offers an intelligent automation solution that transforms documents and e-mails into usable data and analyses them. Docyet’s automated healthcare services improve the patient experience and make healthcare delivery more effective. Kauz builds German-language chatbots with real language comprehension.
E-bot7 – a startup that develops and integrates artificial intelligence for customer service – can also be pleased. Future of Voice helps companies build innovative and world-class automated dialogs for voice and chatbots. Nect offers secure identity recognition using selfies and videos. PBM – Personal Business Machine personalizes automated marketing materials in multiple media formats for every channel imaginable.
And so it goes on
