Cookhouse Pop-up Lab Toronto „Open Innovation“

details

The Internet of Things (IoT) is inexorably on the rise and is forcing insurers to transform classic business models – away from reacting to acting. In order to explore the possibilities of the technology together, we bring the Cookhouse Lab InsurTech Toronto to Cologne for the first time for a 3-day pop-up lab.

We cordially invite our members to the InsurLab Germany Campus (Schanzenstr. 6-20, Building 3.09, 51063 Cologne, Germany) in Cologne from September 9 to 11, 2019 to work on IoT-based ideas and solutions together with other members of our association and the team from the Cookhouse Lab, Canada.

What exactly awaits you:
The goal of the intensive workshop is to jointly master the transformation from passive risk carrier to active risk manager. Within three days, the participants will go through a series of design thinking and lean startup exercises to develop and elaborate concrete IoT-based ideas, products and services and test them directly for consistency and customer interest.

The following topics form the framework of the event:

  • Potential of transformation
  • collaboration models
  • customer expectation
  • Products and Services
  • Technologies and applications

The project team will present the results at a small closing ceremony on 11 September 2019.

Cookhouse Lab aims to build a global innovation network for the insurance industry. With its open innovation approach, it offers the first InsurTech Lab in which insurers jointly tackle current and future problems in short innovation sprints. The concept was successfully launched by Munich-based consulting firm msg at the beginning of 2017 in the North American insurance hub of Toronto. The mixture of innovative methodology and collaborative work with a large number of different experts in North America and in pop-up labs in Europe has already paid off. Regular participants in the lab now include more than 30 well-known insurers such as AIG, IRB Brasil RE, Royal Sun Alliance, Manulife, Hannover Re and Munich Re, who jointly develop solutions based on the “Design Thinking” and “Lean Startup” methods. An overview of the projects and results can be found on the Cookhouse Lab website. If you would like to learn more about the Cookhouse Lab methodology, you can find further information in the blogs.
