InsurLab Germany University “Cyber Security for Beginners”

Details

Websites, apps, messenger services – today that’s the standard in everyday life and also transforms the way insurers communicate with customers and employees. Anyone who uses the possibilities of new technologies and uses them creatively is driving forward the digitalisation of their company. But these new technologies also entail risks. Criminals or “hackers” have different opportunities to infiltrate the IT systems of service providers or read out data from individual users. Depending on the sensitivity of the data, this can have far-reaching consequences – for the end user as well as the provider and data administrator. What are the risks for companies using digital communications? How can they protect themselves? And what opportunities and opportunities are there for the insurance industry in particular?

Together with you we would like to ask these questions and invite you to the InsurLab University: “Cyber Security for Beginners” on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. on our campus in Cologne (Schanzenstr. 6-20, Geb. 3.09, 51063 Köln).

In a relaxed breakfast atmosphere, Rachid El Khayari from Fraunhofer SIT and Ute Richter from Digital Hub Cybersecurity of the de:hub Initiative of the BMWi will give you an insight into the world of cyber security risks. Using concrete examples, they will show what risks and potential threats they pose, how companies can protect themselves and what concrete development opportunities these risks present for the insurance industry.

In the second part it becomes practical: We show you on site how to test the communication security of your own (company) apps and – if they are vulnerable – how these weak points could be exploited. Please bring a laptop with you.
