Topic Day Life & Health: The Impact of Demographic Change
Demographic change poses major challenges not only for our society and the labor market, but also—and in particular—for the personal insurance sector. We will discuss the solutions the industry is already offering today and the measures that will be appropriate tomorrow at the Topic Day: Life & Health atOctober 08at the Gen Re in Cologne. The event is aimed at C-level executives, strategists, and product managers who are addressing tomorrow’s challenges today.
Our participants can look forward to inspiring insights from Gerrit Böhm (Chairman of the Board of Volkswohl Bund Versicherungen), Tim Eppert (Head of Life/Health Products & Analytics at Gen Re) and Prof. Thomas Neusius, Ph.D. (Rhein-Main University of Applied Sciences) on demographic trends and their impact on products and business models. In addition, they present CSS, Roland Berger and Xaver, what solutions they have already found to these challenges.
In addition to engaging presentations, we’ll be taking a concrete look ahead in a professional future-focused format. In the so-called Futures Literacy Lab, we examine various scenarios that will impact our industry due to demographic change. Together, we’ll work interactively to determine which steps make sense today to ensure we’re better prepared for the future
The event will focus on the following questions, among others:
🔹 Rethinking Products and Rates – How do different stages of life change the requirements for retirement and health insurance products?
🔹 Practical innovations – What approaches and technologies are insurers and service providers already using successfully—for example, in communications, through AI, or via data-driven services?
🔹 Understanding Social Responsibility – What role does the industry play in addressing an aging population, the shortage of skilled workers, and ethical issues surrounding AI?
