We are very happy to present InsurLab Germany’s new partnerships at the Annual Members Meeting on 2 April 2019: In 2019, we will be partnering for the first time with Herbert Fromme, InsurTech Hub Munich, and Google to support the “Digitaler Leuchtturm Versicherungen” of Süddeutscher Verlag. Additionally, together with Koelnmesse, InsurLab Germany is planning an exciting and refreshing insurance congress trade fair, which will be held for the first time in Cologne in 2020. Last but not least, the initiative is working on cross-company, digital innovation projects, and solutions, aiming to promote and strengthen collaboration between the member companies. Today we are proud to work with 77 member companies and we welcome Carlo Bewersdorf, Bord member of Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG, as a new member of the InsurLab Germany executive board.
Insurers working on joint solution for digital identity management
We’re thrilled to announce we’re developing beyond networking and connecting. With the help of the member consultancy Bain & Company, we’re working on ten topics – selected after a detailed survey – which the members of the initiative could implement together. In the first half 2019 and under the direction of Dr. Arne Barinka, Board Member of IDEAL Versicherung and part of InsurLab Germany, a team of insurers, corporates, starutps, and technology providers will work on solutions for the digital identity management. Other identified topics will have traction later on this year. “Our aim is to offer the insurance industry concrete solutions in the interaction between startups and insurers,” says Dr. Mathias Bühring-Uhle, Chairman of the InsurLab Germany Executive Board. “We want to offer our members a foundation on which to jointly master challenges and create synergies. The topic of digital identity management is ideally suited as a pilot project for this. In the area of training and further education, we also see opportunities to give added value to our unique network.”
Partner development: Süddeutscher Verlag Veranstaltungen & Koelnmesse
InsurLab Germany, together with SV Veranstaltungen, Herbert Fromme, InsurTech Hub Munich, and Google, plus other partners, is organising the 7th SZ conference “The Digital Insurance” on 3 December 2019 in Cologne. The conference traditionally awards the “Digitaler Leuchtturm Versicherungen” (Digital Lighthouse Insurance) prize. This will be the first event where the two InsurTech Hubs of the Digital Hub Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy are partners.
In spring of 2020, InsurLab Germany and Koelnmesse aim to establish a new, modern congress trade fair format that does not yet exist in Germany. “We are looking forward to shaping the future of the insurance industry together with strong partners such as Koelnmesse. With an exciting congress offer we will continue to strengthen Cologne as an insurance location”, explains Sebastian Pitzler, Managing Director of InsurLab Germany. Further details are expected to be announced in May 2019.
New members & change of management board
Six new members were introduced at the general meeting. FH Dortmund, Gefen Technologies, Koelnmesse, Ottonova, Wertgarantie, and XOIO. Thus, the association currently comprises 77 member companies. Ulrich Pasdika, general representative of Gen Re and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of InsurLab Germany since the foundation of the initiative, also explains his move to the extended board of directors of InsurLab Germany. Carlo Bewersdorf, member of the Management Board of Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG and member of the InsurLab Germany Management Board, will be moving to the Managing Board.
