Cologne, 18.04.2018 – Yesterday the regular general meeting of the InsurLab Germany took place in the premises of AXA Versicherung AG in Cologne. The 52 members of the young initiative to network insurance companies and innovative start-ups decided to expand their board from three to eight persons. In addition, InsurLab Germany presented six new member companies and the new strategic partner FinLeap from Berlin.
Eight board members for a strong industry initiative
At yesterday’s general meeting of the InsurLab Germany the association unanimously voted for the expansion of the board by five additional members. CEO Dr. Mathias Bühring-Uhle – also member of the Gothaer board – and Dr. Walter Botermann, CEO of ALTE LEIPZIGER – HALLESCHE and Ulrich Pasdika, Life/Health Unit Manager at Gen Re, remain the managing directors of the initiative. From now on, the Executive Board will be supplemented by Dr. Arne Barinka, member of the Executive Board of IDEAL Versicherung, Carlo Bewersdorf, member of the Executive Board of Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG, Dr. Lothar Horbach, member of the Executive Board of RheinLand, Helmut Söhler, Senior Representative of SCOR Global P&C Germany, and Prof. Dr. Torsten Oletzky, who has supported the initiative intensively right from the start. He represents the TH Cologne in his new role as professor.
Dr. Mathias Bühring-Uhle is very pleased about the new board colleagues: “As the initiative grows, so does the diversity of our members, whose interests must be represented in the best possible way. “This is exactly what we can achieve with the expansion of the board.”
InsurLab Germany cracks the 50 mark
Six new member companies were welcomed at yesterday’s event. Meanwhile, the Mecklenburgische Versicherungsgruppe supplements the 28 insurance companies of the association. NRW.BANK is now also in this category and is taking direct action: an employee of the new member company has been working on the InsurLab Germany Campus in Cologne since the beginning of April.
The strategy consultancy BÜLOW & QVARTZ completes the quartet of management consultancies at InsurLab Germany. The association was able to win over the Research Centre for Insurance at the University of Münster as an additional educational institution. In addition, the innovative technology provider Amazon Web Services from Berlin and InsurTech Startup mailo AG from Cologne now complement the member portfolio. Thus InsurLab Germany starts the new business year with 52 members.
Expansion of the network by a strong FinTech partner and an international InsurTech association
