As of today, startups have again the chance to apply to the InsurLab Germany Accelerator program. This year, the equity-free program will support up to 15 start-ups in further developing their companies and establishing them in the German insurance market. The selected start-ups will spend six months working on their solutions and joint projects with the now 66 member companies – including 31 insurers. “The first round of our Accelerator Programme was a great success. In 2019, we would like to further increase our performance. We are very much looking forward to working on their solutions with up to 15 startups from May and to realizing exciting projects with our members” says Sebastian Pitzler, Managing Director of InsurLab Germany. Applications can be submitted up to and including 8 March 2019 through the F6S platform.
An individualized program awaits the selected start-ups
The InsurLab Germany Accelerator concentrates on supporting startups to establish and develop their companies in the German insurance industry, achieve business growth, facilitate projects, and provide tools to establish strong connections with our ecosystem. During the six months of the program, the participating start-ups receive individual mentor support as well as several topic specialists which supports them in the further development of their business models and solutions as well as the actual implementation of projects. The program includes workshops, seminars, pitch opportunities at conferences and events, as well as working space at the InsurLab Germany Campus in Cologne. Younger start-ups also receive a cash bonus of 3.000 euros during the program. As a highlight, participating startups don’t have to worry about equity: “our members and we are exclusively concerned with promoting innovative ideas and advancing the digitalization of our industry. For this reason, we do not charge any fees or charge any company shares to the selected start-ups” says Pitzler.
We are looking for start-ups with different levels of maturity
The participating startups will be divided into two categories. In the “Start” category, young start-ups receive support and mentoring in order to develop scalable products and enter into initial projects with insurers. The start-ups in this category should have at least one prototype and should have developed a concrete business model.
The “Growth” category helps more mature start-ups to scale and develop their businesses with the help of member companies and partners. Participating start-ups must already have validated their business models and solutions in the market, and should have entered into at least one initial cooperation with an insurer or another company.
The selection of the startups is made by the InsurLab Germany members
The selection of startups will be made during a Selection Day in April. After a pitch, the members of the club decide who they want to work with during the program and for which startups they want to take on a mentoring role. Five more startups will be selected by a jury of experts. A total of up to 15 startups are planned for the second round of the program.
