In January 2020, we at ottonova were very confident about the future: Our systems, processes, and structures had passed the stress tests of previous years and were ready for scaling. We had a comprehensive plan for which projects would be implemented this year and which goals we wanted to achieve. And business was also going exactly as we had hoped. But then Corona came along. All of a sudden, we had to consider whether our plans would have to give way to other, more urgent tasks. However, we quickly realized that our path was still the right one: Our ongoing projects were not affected by Corona, and customer support also continued to function completely without restrictions thanks to our digital and cloud-based systems. However, since some planned projects with partners had to be postponed, we did not bury our heads in the sand and wait until the time came. We have gone on the offensive. We were able to focus even more intensively on ourselves and implement planned innovations for our customers even faster and more extensively. After all, it was very important to us that even in these tense months we did not lose our focus: making our policyholders happy. To this end, we implemented a large number of incremental innovations to our customer app and to our processes in Operations. Insureds can now navigate the app more intuitively and structure chats and documents. We also held a hackathon remotely and implemented many of the results directly afterwards. Because here, too, the focus was on customers and their experience with ottonova the focus.
Disruptive innovation during Corona: carefree travel with SimplyGo. In addition to many innovations to our existing systems, we also used the time to think big. And that's how we came up with the idea of using our expertise to develop a technical solution that would once again allow our policyholders to travel to other countries without a care in the world. This was the starting signal for SimplyGo - an app that provides proof of relevant health tests. It enables travelers to comply with the often-changing entry requirements of other countries and ensure that the required test result is forgery-proof. The platform behind it is similar to ottonova's platform structure: It provides standardized interfaces for laboratories and doctors to feed in health data, as well as for authorities and the transport industry to define and read out the requirements for the data.
Together with our partners Nortal from Estonia and inHealth from the United Arab Emirates, we at ottonova have since been working on this highly complex and at the same time very topical project, which will benefit not only our customers but all travelers. Corona may have changed ottonova's initial plan for 2020, but our aggressive approach to innovation and the thrill of facing completely new challenges has led to unique results. We will continue to face new developments and are already looking forward to leaving our comfort zone again and again in order to be able to develop something new.
