How did you come to join InsurLab and why did you decide to become a member?

InsurLab has established itself as a central platform for driving innovation in the insurance industry. We see this as an opportunity to discuss technological developments, new business models, and regulatory requirements at an early stage in close collaboration with other stakeholders and to jointly develop practical solutions.

We are also excited about InsurLab’s Collaborator Program, which specifically supports startups and scale-ups. This program pursues goals similar to those of our CGI Unicorn Academy, where we help young technology companies make their solutions market-ready, further develop them, and scale them in collaboration with established partners.

We also see significant value in expanding our network through constructive dialogue with established companies, startups, and scale-ups.

What topics and content are important to you? How do you feel about our 2025 focus topics „Operational excellence and business process management“ and „AI scaling and application“?

At CGI, we focus intensively on key areas within the insurance sector, including artificial intelligence and data, cybersecurity, cloud transformation, telematics infrastructure, and the digitization and automation of insurance processes. This focus is complemented by our IP solutions, such as the CGI Underwriting Workbench and the CGI TI-Gateway.

InsurLab’s key focus areas for 2025—„Operational Excellence and Business Process Management“ and „AI Scaling and Application“—accurately reflect our strategic priorities. In this way, we help our clients make their business processes more efficient, seamless, and secure, including through AI-driven process automation. We also bring project experience to AI scaling, for example in customer service, where efficiency and quality gains from the targeted use of scalable AI solutions can already be demonstrated today. In doing so, we keep a close eye on both the responsible use of AI and the protection of applications and infrastructures through our Security Operations Centers (SOCs), which are on duty for our customers around the clock.

Which of our activities are you planning to get involved in? What impetus would you like to bring to the InsurLab network - and what do you hope to get in return?

Our goal is to provide valuable practical insights, collaborate on developing new solutions, and actively shape technological and methodological trends. In doing so, we aim to contribute our expertise, particularly in the area of digital transformation—from strategy and implementation to the scaling of innovative solutions.

As part of our membership, we plan to actively participate in several InsurLab Germany initiatives. For example, we are taking on the role of co-lead in the new „Requirements Engineering“ topic group, where we will contribute our methodological expertise and industry-specific implementation experience in the context of the digitalization of insurance processes.

Our approach is based on in-depth industry knowledge and technological expertise, and we also like to think outside the box, as successful approaches from other industries can often be effectively applied to the insurance sector. For example, we have successfully adapted a solution originally developed for the aerospace industry to analyze satellite data for the insurance sector—specifically in a use case for risk prevention in Dutch greenhouses.

In addition, we operate in insurance markets around the world and apply the insights we gain there to our consulting engagements. For example, CGI is one of the leading IT service providers in the Scandinavian countries, which have already achieved a very high level of digitalization. We are happy to bring the experience we have gained there to InsurLab.

We view active participation in InsurLab’s initiatives as a key platform for sharing our perspectives and insights through joint white papers and publications—thereby further enhancing CGI’s visibility as a trusted digital transformation partner in the insurance market.

Andreas Klöker and Sascha Auerbach, thank you very much for the interview! We look forward to working with you.
