On April 10, 2019, the InsurLab Germany Accelerator Selection Day 2019 took place in Cologne. Within the framework of this event, we gave 25 startups the opportunity to present themselves to our members at the premises of SCOR Reinsurance. After we were able to give five startups the opportunity to participate in our program in 2018, 15 startups should make it into our six-month Accelerator Program this year. Due to the fact that the decisions were already difficult - as all startups were convincing - even 16 companies were finally admitted to our program this year.
InsurTech startups and startups with a strong connection to the insurance industry could apply in two categories: "Start" and "Growth". In view of this, ten companies in the "Start" category and 15 in the "Growth" category were invited to our Selection Day. Here, our member companies and a jury of experts were able to decide which startups would finally be admitted to the Accelerator.
What now awaits our selected startups
Younger startups receive a cash bonus and now receive comprehensive support from us in implementing their first pilot projects. The somewhat more mature startups benefit above all from our extensive network of potential customers for scaling their business ideas. Startups in both categories will receive individual mentors as well as several expert mentors who will always be on hand to provide advice and support with their expertise in the further development of business models and implementation of projects. In addition, the 16 startups can expect numerous workshops, pitch opportunities at events and workstations on our InsurLab campus. All of this is free of charge, of course.
