We are very pleased to present new, formative partnerships at the Annual General Meeting on April 2, 2019: In 2019, we will partner for the first time with Herbert Fromme, InsurTech Hub Munich and Google on the "Digital Lighthouse Insurance" of Süddeutscher Verlag. Together with Koelnmesse, we are also planning a new type of insurance congress trade fair, which will be held in Cologne for the first time in 2020. Furthermore, our initiative is working on cross-company digital innovation projects and solutions, which will specifically promote and strengthen collaboration between member companies. InsurLab Germany now comprises 77 member companies and we welcome Carlo Bewersdorf, CEO of Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG, as a new member of the executive board.
Insurers work on joint solution for digital identity management
InsurLab Germany is developing beyond a mere network of like-minded people. With the help of Bain & Company, ten possible project topics were developed that the members of the initiative could implement together. A detailed member survey decided on the first projects: Still in the first half of the year, under the leadership of Dr. Arne Barinka, board member of IDEAL Versicherung and InsurLab Germany, solutions for digital identity management of the participating insurance companies will be worked on in cooperation with startups and technology providers. Other topics for joint projects were also identified and prioritized. "We have the ambition to offer concrete solutions to the insurance industry in the interaction between startups and insurers," says Dr. Mathias Bühring-Uhle, CEO of InsurLab Germany. "We want to offer our members a foundation to jointly master challenges and create synergies. The topic of digital identity management is ideally suited as a pilot project for this. In the area of education and training, we also see opportunities to create added value for our unique network."
Partner development: Süddeutscher Verlag Events & Koelnmesse
Together with SV Veranstaltungen, Herbert Fromme, InsurTech Hub Munich and Google and other partners, InsurLab Germany is organizing the 7th SZ conference "The Digital Insurance" on December 3, 2019 in Cologne. As part of this conference, the award "Digital Lighthouse Insurance" is traditionally presented. The InsurTech Hub Munich is also participating in this event. This will be the first event where the two InsurTech Hubs of the Digital Hub Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy are partners together.
In April 2020, InsurLab Germany and Koelnmesse want to establish a new, modern congress trade fair format that does not yet exist in this form in Germany. "We are very much looking forward to shaping the future of the insurance industry together with strong partners like Koelnmesse. We will further strengthen Cologne as an insurance location with a new type of congress offering," explains Sebastian Pitzler, Managing Director of InsurLab Germany. Further details are scheduled to be announced in May 2019.
