Cologne, January 31, 2018 - In a workshop that was very well attended with over 70 participants, representatives of the member companies discussed the 2018 work program for InsurLab Germany, the platform for networking between insurance companies and InsurTech startups. "Digitization of customer communication", "Artificial intelligence and forecasting algorithms" and "Blockchain / Smart Contracts" were defined as the main topics for the coming months.

In April, the Accelerator Program of InsurLab Germany will start. Participants are currently being selected from the national and international applications received in recent weeks. Other events planned for 2018 include two pitch days, a reverse pitch day, a large hackathon, innovation workshops on the focus topics with member companies and startups, "learning journeys" with board members from member companies to the most important innovation locations, and regular meetups for casual exchanges between member companies and startups.

Mathias Bühring-Uhle, Chairman of the Board of InsurLab Germany e.V., was also able to welcome a number of new members at the event. Most recently, Wüstenrot&Württembergische, Deutsche Rückversicherung, the insurance broker Ecclesia, the startup Moneymeets, IBM and the auditing firm Ernst & Young were newly admitted to the supporting association of InsurLab Germany. InsurLab Germany e.V. now has 45 members, including 26 insurers. Bühring-Uhle commented: "I am very pleased about the great development - both on the content side and in terms of membership numbers. This enables us to make a significant contribution to innovation in the insurance industry."
